The Argyle pattern derives from the tartan of Clan Campbell of Argyll in Western Scotland. Often designed of multiple diamond colors and overlapping, contrasting lines, Argyle socks first became popular in the early 1900s where they were the de rigeur accompaniment for the plus-fours trouser fashion of the day.
During the past decade, this beautiful style has experienced a great resurgence. In addition to being one of the most demanded socks for casual and weekend wear - among both ladies and gents - Argyles are the socks of choice for wearing on the links.

During the past two years, we have been able to convince our friends at Marcoliani to make these extremely fashionable socks in Extrafine Merino as well as the more traditional Pima Cotton. And after a very long discussion, we succeeded at obtaining not only the usual mid-calf versions, but the extremely rare Over-the-Calf length as well.

All top-quality luxury socks should be laundered in cold water and dried without heat for the best longevity. A dryer is acceptable if used on the no-heat "fluff" setting.
